The overall export unit value index increased by 0.9%
 
As compared with the corresponding month of the preceding year, the overall export unit value index increased by 0.9% in August. In the same month, compared to August 2019, while the index for food, beverages and tobacco, and manufactured goods (except food, beverages and tobacco) increased by 2.6% and 1.5%, respectively, the index for crude materials (except fuels) and fuels decreased by 1.2% and 29.8%, respectively.
 
The overall export volume index decreased by 6.8%
 
The overall export volume index compared to the corresponding month of the preceding year decreased by 6.8% in August. Compared with August 2019, while the index for food, beverages and tobacco, and crude materials (except fuels) increased by 7.0% and 5.3%, respectively, the index for fuels and manufactured goods (except food, beverages and tobacco) decreased by 50.5% and 4.5%, respectively.

The overall import unit value index decreased by 3.5%
 
As compared with the corresponding month of the preceding year, the overall import unit value index decreased by 3.5% in August. While the index for food, beverages and tobacco increased by 0.9%, the index for crude materials (except fuels), fuels and manufactured goods (except food, beverages and tobacco) decreased by 10.4%, 30.2% and 1.6%, respectively.
 
The overall import volume index increased by 24.7%
 
In August, the overall import volume index compared to the corresponding month of the preceding year increased by 24.7%. While the index for food, beverages and tobacco, and fuels decreased by 7.9% and 12.2%, respectively, the index for crude materials (except fuels) and manufactured goods (except food, beverages and tobacco) increased by 16.1% and 14.5%, respectively.

The calendar and seasonally adjusted export volume index decreased by 8.8%
 

The calendar and seasonally adjusted export volume index which was 165.6 in July 2020, decreased by 8.8%, to 150.9 in August 2020. The calendar adjusted export volume index which was 158.8 in August 2019, decreased by 8.4%, to 145.4 in August 2020.
 
The calendar and seasonally adjusted import volume index increased by 6.6%
 

The calendar and seasonally adjusted import volume index which was 134.0 in July 2020, increased by 6.6%, to 142.9 in August 2020. The calendar adjusted import volume index which was 119.7 in August 2019, increased by 18.2%, to 141.5 in August 2020.

Terms of trade was 108.3 in August 2020
 
Terms of trade is calculated by dividing the export unit value index by the import unit value index, then multiplying the result by 100. While terms of trade was 103.5 in August 2019, it increased by 4.8 points to 108.3 in August 2020.
