Crop Production 1st Estimation, 2020

It was estimated that crop production will increase when compared with the previous year

In the first estimation of 2020, production quantities of cereals and other crops, vegetables and fruits, beverage and spices crops will increase by 7.3%, 0.8% and 5.3% respectively when compared with the previous year. Production quantities of cereals and other crops, vegetables and fruits in 2020 were predicted approximately as follows; 68.5 million tonnes for cereals and other crops, 31.3 million tonnes for vegetables, and 23.5 million tonnes for fruits, beverage and spices crops.

It was estimated that cereals production will increase in 2020 when compared with the previous year

It was estimated that in 2020 cereals production will increase with a rate of 7.9% when compared with the previous year and approximately become 37.1 million tonnes.

It was estimated that wheat production will increase by 7.9% to become 20.5 million tonnes, barley production will increase by 8.7% and become 8.3 million tonnes, rye production will increase by 3.2% and become 320 thousand tonnes, oats production will increase by 9% and approximately become 289 thousand tonnes, when compared with the previous year.

In the pulses group, it was expected that a decrease will occur in broad beans to consume by 3.8% and production approximately become 5.3 thousand tonnes, red lentil will increase by 12.9% and become 350 thousand tonnes and potatoes, one of tuber crops, will increase by 4.4% and become 5.2 million tonnes.

In the group of oil seeds, it was expected that soybean production will not change and remain as 150 thousand tonnes.

It was estimated that tobacco production will increase by 14.3% and become 80 thousand tonnes, sugar beets production will increase by 10.6% and become 20 million tonnes.

It was estimated that vegetables production will increase in 2020 compared with the previous year

It was estimated that in 2020, vegetables production will increase with a rate of 0.8% when compared with the previous year and approximately become 31.3 million tonnes.

When examining production of subgroups of vegetables, root and tuberous vegetables production is expected to increase by 4.3%, production of vegetables cultivated for their fruits is expected to increase by 0.3%, while in other vegetables not elsewhere classified are expected to decrease with the rate of 0.1% .

The production of some important crops in vegetables; increments are expected in tomatoes production by 1.9%, in dry onion by 6.8%, in cucumber by 1.2% while decrements are expected as 6.4% in watermelon, 2.2% in melon, 4.4% in green beans.  

It was estimated that fruits production will increase in 2020 when compared with the previous year

It was estimated that fruits, beverage and spices crops production will be 23.5 million tonnes in 2020 increasing by 5.3% when compared with the previous year.

When examining productions of some important fruits, it was estimated that there will be increments in apple production by 7.2%, in peaches production by 4.8%, in cherries production by 10.2%, in strawberries production by 2.2%, in loquats production by 0.1% when compared with the previous year.

In the citrus group, an increase is expected in mandarin production by 10.7%. From nuts, pistachios  production is expected to increase by 217.6%.

It was estimated that figs production will not change and remain as 310 thousand tones and bananas production will increase by 5.4%.
